You should put the first screw in at this point, at the top of the door. Make sure someone is holding up the weight of the door (or keep it on shims) so the weight doesnt pull that screw out. Close the door and make sure it shuts properly. It should be hitting the strike plate evenly. If not, adjust the shim placement until you have even amounts of space all the way around and the door seems to be evenly set. Immediately put a screw in the bottom door hinges. This will make sure you have the door hinges lined up in a manner that will allow the door to open and close correctly.

It is two leaves with screw holes held together by a pin or a rod. Both leaves are recessed, one end into the door and the other into the frame. When the door is closed all you see is the pin. With this type of door hinge it is easy to take the door down because all you have to do is remove the pin.
Door hinges well may be the most under appreciated items in your home. Think about it, how often do you think about your door hinges? You probably only really notice them when they begin squeaking or creaking. Unfortunately door hinges getting old and squeaking and creaking is a part of life. Its just time passing.
Unlike the old days when door hinges were made of iron, brass or steel, todays hinges come in an array of materials and finishes. Thanks to modern manufacturing techniques, most of these finishes are maintenance free. Left alone, they wont tarnish, rust or fail over time. What do begin to fail are the screws that hold the door hinges on the door and the frame. The stresses and strains of everyday openings begin to loosen the screws. This is particularly true on heavier doors that are either left open a lot or bear lots of traffic.
Butterfly hinges are really decorative butt hinges that when fully opened have the look of a butterfly. They are used only on flush doors and add a decorative touch. If you want your cabinets to close by themselves which is always popular you need a spring loaded cabinet hinge. So called because they have a tiny spring inside that when released closes the door by itself. As versatile as they are popular they can be used on all three types of doors. Once you have found the right type of hinges for your cabinets you get to have fun choosing the finish to match your other hardware. After all, no kitchen is complete without cabinet door hinges and you want your revitalized kitchen to be everything you dreamed it could be.
